Welcome to the iMirus Online Digital Reader Help section. The iMirus Online Digital Reader is a state-of-the-art digital reader specifically designed for the display of digital books, magazines, and catalogs, and provides a multi-media experience from watching video and flash animation, to listening to audio and having select articles read to you. Users can also easily navigate inside the digital edition by browsing the table of contents, clicking on thumbnails of select pages, and can navigate outside the digital edition to various websites by clicking on advertisements, products, or any area that “highlights” as you scroll over it.

This help section is designed to provide you with helpful hints to frequently asked questions, and features and functionality descriptions of each button and tab located in the iMirus Online Digital Reader. How do I view a book, magazine or catalog?

To view a digital book, magazine or catalog, simple click on the cover from either the email notification or the publisher’s digital edition “home page.” The iMirus Online Reader is designed for user’s to view digital editions in any common web browser. Users do not have to download any software. The only requirements are to have a broadband Internet connection, an Internet Browser (such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari) and Adobe Flash Player 10. Your computer most likely has Adobe’s Flash Player, but you may need to upgrade to 10. To do so, click here.

How do I turn pages and navigate the digital edition?

There are four page-navigation buttons within the iMirus Online Reader. The "Start" button, when selected will take you to the front cover or very first page of the digital edition. The "Back" button, when selected will also take you the preceding page or spread of the digital edition. The "Next" button, when selected will take you to the next page or spread of the digital edition. The "End" button, when selected will take a user to the back cover or very last page of the digital edition.

How do I browse the Table of Contents?

To browse the Table of Contents, click on the Browse tab, which is located on the left-side of the iMirus Online Reader. The page contents of the digital edition will appear. Select the page you would like to go to, and single-click it. This will take you to these pages in the digital edition. To close the Browse tab, click on the "X" at the top of the tab.

How do I print the digital edition?

Pressing the Print button allows you to print the pages of your digital book, magazine, or catalog. By selecting the Print button, a printer wizard will provide a step-by-step approach to selecting the printer, configuring the print parameters, and printing the desired pages. If you do not see the Print icon in the tool bar, the publisher has elected to disable the printing capability.

How do I download the digital edition(s)?

In the toolbar, click on the button that has the arrow pointing downward. This is the Download button. A drop down menu will appear with the download options that are provided from the publisher. For most digital magazines, catalogs, or books, the publisher will provide the ability to download them in either a PDF format and/or IMR format. The IMR format requires a user to have the iMirus Download Reader, which can be installed on their personal computer (PC), and the PDF requires Adobe Acrobat. The IMR file format provides a “magazine page layout” and a rich multi-media experience.

How do I watch video and listen to audio inside my digital edition?

Watching a video or listening to an audio file inside the digital edition is very simple. As you turn pages in the digital edition, if a video or audio file is present, there will either be the image of the video or an image of a play button. By clicking on the button or video itself, it will automatically begin to play. Some digital editions are configured to automatically play the audio or video file once the page is loaded. In this case, there is no user involvement to begin the video or audio. Once an audio or video file begins to play, by scrolling over the play button or the video, the iMirus Media Controls will display, allowing a user to pause, play or mute the volume.

How do I connect with external websites?

As a user views pages, and drags the cursor over select images (such as advertisements in magazines, or products in catalogs, or select text in a book, a visual of a "click zone" may appear. A click zone is a section of a digital page that has a website hyperlink connected to it. If you click on that area of the page, it will launch a separate browser window and take you to the external website. For example, if you are viewing a digital magazine and click on an advertisement that has a "click zone", then it will take you to that advertiser's website. To return to the digital edition, simply close or minimize the browser containing the advertiser's website.

It seems like I can’t see the entire digital edition, why, and how do I see the rest of it?

If you only see select pages of the digital edition, then you are viewing a magazine or book that requires you to “log in” to view the remainder. Most digital editions in this model are for individuals that have subscribed to it or purchased it. During your subscription or purchase process, you will have set up a user name and password. The user name is your email address, and the password was selected during the account set up process. To log in, click on the button that has a picture of a lock, enter your email address, and password. If successful, the remainder of the digital edition will launch inside your browser automatically.

Digital Edition Navigation & Features

When you open the digital edition, you will be presented with a toolbar at the top of the screen along with three tabs to the left of the screen. Pressing the buttons at the top or pressing the tabs at the left of the screen will provide you most of the functionality.

Navigation Links Button  

The navigation button provides you with the ability to visit other online services from the publisher. There are many several navigation items that may appear in this button's drop-down menu, such as:

To visit this content, simply click on the desired item. This will open a separate browser window and take you to the website or application. To return to the digital edition, close the browser containing the visited content.

Help Button  

The help button provides you with answers to frequently asked questions, and provides commentary for each feature and functionality of the iMirus Online Reader. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact consumer support at support@imirus.com or call (918) 492-0660.

Print Button  

The print button allows you to print the pages of your digital book, magazine, or catalog. By selecting the print button, a printer wizard will provide a step-by-step approach to selecting the printer, configuring the print parameters, and printing the desired pages. If you do not see a Print button, the publisher has disabled this capability.

Download Button  

The download button provides you with a choice to either download the digital edition in a PDF format and/or IMR format. The IMR format requires a user to have the iMirus Download reader installed on your personal computer (PC) and the PDF requires Adobe Acrobat. The IMR file format provides a “magazine page layout” and a rich multi-media experience.

Log In Button  

If you only see select pages of the digital edition, then you are viewing a magazine or book that requires you to “log in” to view the remainder. Most digital editions in this model are for individuals that have subscribed to or purchased the digital edition. During your subscription or purchase process, you will have set up a user name and password. The user name is your email address, and the password was selected during the account set up process. To log in, click on the button, enter your email address, and password. If successful, the remainder of the digital edition will launch inside your browser automatically. If unsuccessful, click on the forgot password link, answer your security question, and reset your password.

Refer-to-Friend (Share) Button  

The Refer-A-Friend button provides a user to send an email to a friend referring the digital edition. They will be sent a link via email, along with any private message you may attach. When your friend clicks on the link, it will launch and open the digital edition to the page that you were on when you sent the Refer-to-Friend email.

Zoom Buttons (+ -)

The Zoom Buttons provides you with the ability to zoom into the page for clearer text and images. Click the (+) Zoom Button to zoom in, click the (-) Zoom Button to zoom out. If the content you wish to view does not appear on the page, use the scroll bars and the bottom and right to further navigate the digital edition.

First Page (Start) Button  

There are four page-navigation buttons within the iMirus Digital Reader. The First Page Button when selected will take you to the front cover or very first page of the digital edition.

Previous Page (Back) Button  

There are four page-navigation buttons within the iMirus Digital Reader. The Previous Page Button when selected will also take you the preceding page or spread of the digital edition.

Next Page Button  

There are four page-navigation buttons within the iMirus Digital Reader. The Next Page Button when selected will take you to the next page or spread of the digital edition.

Last Page (End) Button  

There are four page-navigation buttons within the iMirus Digital Reader. The Last Page Button when selected will take a user to the back cover or very last page of the digital edition.

Shopping Cart Button  

The shopping cart button will take you to the publisher’s shopping cart where you can purchase subscriptions, single issues or books, and individual articles or chapters.

Search Button  

To search for key words from inside the digital edition, type in the word or words you would like to search. The search functionality will search all text within the current issue and/or back issues. The search functionality is designed to find EXACT matches. For example, if your search criteria were the words "summer fun" the search results would only show pages that contained BOTH words "summer" and "fun" on them. After entering the search word or words, the search tab will automatically open displaying the search results.

Scroll Bar (Page Display)


The scroll bar is located at the bottom of the screen and shows the current page or pages you are on, as well as, the total number of pages in the digital edition. To quickly navigate to a page, roll your mouse cursor over the scroll bar and drag the slider to the desired page.


Digital Edition Tabs

The digital edition tabs provide you with the ability to browse the table of contents, thumbnails of pages, external links, and media, as well as, view and open back issues, and search results.

There are four features within the Browse tab: Table of Contents, Thumbnail Preview, Website Links, and Media. The default browse setting is Table of Contents. A list of the Table of Contents will appear showing a description of the article and its page number. Click on any article description, and it will take you to that page. The second menu item, “Thumbnail Preview”, will display a thumbnail image of all pages in the digital edition. Click on the desired page, and it will take you to that page. The third menu item, “Link List” will show you a description of all of the external website or product links that exist inside the digital magazine or catalog. Click on any of the descriptions, and a separate web browser will open to the website or product shopping cart. The fourth menu item, “Media” will show you a description of all of the video or audio files that are in the digital edition. Click on any of the descriptions and the digital edition will automatically turn to the page(s) that contain the media. The media will either automatically play or will require you to click on the “play” button.


Issues

The issues tab displays all back issues of the current title you are viewing. To go to a back issue, simply click on the cover. If the digital editions are in a “free” model, the digital edition will automatically open and give you full access to the entire magazine. If the digital editions are configured in a “qualified or paid” model, you may only see a preview of the digital edition, and may require you to either log in to the edition or subscribe or purchase it.

Search

After a search is complete, the results will display inside the search tab. The results are associated with all of the text within either the current issue, or a selected back issue. The search results only contain pages with the EXACT search criteria. By clicking on the desired search result, the digital edition will open inside the iMirus online Reader, and turn to that exact page.
